The race was incredibly close, with both the American and British teams crossing the finish line at 1 hour, 25 minutes, and 40 seconds. Initially, the announcer declared the UK as the silver medalist, but after reviewing the photo finish, it was confirmed that the USA had taken second place, leaving the UK with the bronze.

The race took place under challenging conditions due to recent heavy rains that had affected the water quality of the Seine River, leading to the cancellation of the swim practice sessions for two consecutive days. However, organizers confirmed that the water quality had improved to acceptable levels, allowing the event to proceed as scheduled.

Unfortunately, the Belgian team had to withdraw from the relay after their athlete, Michelle, fell ill following the women’s triathlon event.
