Taylor Fritz has reached his first US Open final after defeating compatriot Ben Shelton in a dramatic five-set thriller. Fritz, who battled back from being down 1-2 in sets, called the win “a dream come true” and expressed his determination to give his best performance in the final.
The match saw Fritz drop the first set before leveling the score in the second. Shelton then claimed the third set, leaving Fritz in a precarious position. However, Fritz remained focused, securing a 6-4 win in the fourth set and completely dominating the fifth set with a 6-1 scoreline to secure his spot in the final.
Fritz will now face world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in Sunday’s final, where he will be aiming to capture his first Grand Slam title.
