The Para-triathlon events at the Paris 2024 Paralympics have been postponed by 24 hours after heavy rain compromised the water quality in the River Seine. Originally slated for Sunday, all 11 triathlon races will now take place on Monday, provided that water quality tests show improvement.

This postponement adds to the series of challenges faced by the Paris 2024 organizers regarding events in the River Seine. The Olympic triathlons had already faced multiple delays earlier in the Games due to heavy rainfall.

The Paralympic triathlon was initially scheduled over two days but was later condensed into Sunday because of expected bad weather. However, the weather conditions deteriorated sooner than predicted, forcing another change in the schedule.

World Triathlon conducted tests early Sunday morning and determined that the current water quality did not meet the necessary safety standards. The decision to postpone was made with athlete health and safety as the top priority.

Among the athletes impacted are 11 members of Team GB, including defending PTS5 champion Lauren Steadman and gold medal hopefuls Dave Ellis and Alison Peasgood.
